Paladins Return Home To Host Mercer Thursday Night

Furman vs. Mercer Game Notes

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team returns home to host the Mercer Bears in Southern Conference action on Thursday night at Timmons Arena.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available online at or by visiting the Timmons Arena Box Office.

Thursday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Furman IMG Sports Network with Dan Scott and Bryant Lambert calling the action. Fans can listen on FoxSports 1440AM, via Stretch Audio at or by using the TuneIn Radio app. The broadcast will also be available through SiriusXM at channel 133 on Sirius, channel 201 on XM and on at channel 964.

The Paladins, 12-2 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon, are going for their 11th consecutive home win and 13th victory in their last 14 games at Timmons Arena. In the their last home outing on December 15, Clay Mounce poured in 26 points to lead the Paladins to a 93-50 win over UNCW as Furman improved to 7-0 this season at Timmons.

Last time out, ETSU shot 60% from the field and held Furman to 37% shooting on Saturday as the Bucs claimed a 79-56 victory over the Paladins in Johnson City, Tenn. Senior Matt Rafferty, who enters Thursday's game needing only three points to become the 44th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, paced the Paladins with 19 points, five boards and five assists in the loss.

Thursday's contest will mark the 25th all-time meeting between Furman and Mercer with the Paladins holding a 14-10 series edge. Furman has won each of the last five games versus the Bears and completed its second straight season sweep of Mercer by claiming a 74-71 victory in Greenville and an 85-73 triumph in Macon, Ga., last season.

Mercer enters Thursday's match-up at 5-8 overall and 0-1 in the SoCon. The Bears, who fell at The Citadel in their league opener last month, dropped a 71-67 decision to Harvard this past Saturday in Atlanta, Ga.

Furman continues its homestand on Saturday when it entertains The Citadel at 4 p.m. at Timmons Arena. Tickets are available at
