Feb 22, 2016

Furman shot 60.8% from the floor and out-scored Wofford 46-28 in the paint, but it wasn't enough, as the Terriers held on for a 77-73 victory in Benjamin Johnson Arena on Saturday night. The win moves Wofford to 15-14 on the year, 11-5 in SoCon play, while the loss drops the Paladins to 17-12 on the season, with an identical 11-5 conference record. Larry Wideman stole the Wofford inbounds pass with six seconds remaining, down three, but Furman couldn't convert on the chance, allowing Wofford to hang on for the win. Furman led Wofford in shooting percentage, blocks, fast break points, points off turnovers, and bench points, but the Terriers managed to get to the free throw line 21 times to Furman's eight, converting on 16 opportunities. Furman led by as many as four in the first half, before a 9-0 run gave Wofford a five-point lead with one minute to go until the break. A Matt Raferty fade-away as the shot clock expired cut the lead back to three with 50 seconds to go, then Geoff Beans got a friendly bounce on a buzzer-beating three to send the game to the break tied at 31.
