Men's Basketball Set To Entertain The Citadel On Thursday At Timmons Arena

Furman vs. The Citadel Game Notes

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team goes in search of its ninth consecutive home victory when it hosts Southern Conference rival The Citadel on Thursday at Timmons Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

Furman (15-11, 9-4 SoCon) improved to 11-1 on the season at home and claimed its eighth straight win in Timmons Arena on Monday night with a 79-72 triumph over the UNCG Spartans. Senior Stephen Croone scored a team-high 17 points, junior Kris Acox added 15 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Matt Rafferty totaled 11 points and eight boards as the Paladins clinched a regular season split with the Spartans and moved back into third place in the league standings.

Led by Acox's 6-for-9 effort from the field, Furman shot 52.9% for the game and made good on 56% of their second half shots. The Paladins connected on 19-of-25 trips to the charity stripe and outscored the Spartans in the paint 36-32.

Thursday night's matchup marks the 205th all-time meeting between the Paladins and the Bulldogs with Furman holding a commanding 118-86 series advantage. Last season, Furman and The Citadel split the regular season series with each school winning on the other's home court. The Paladins broke the season deadlock by claiming a 73-56 victory over the Bulldogs in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament en route to earning a trip to the tournament finals. The Citadel took the last meeting between the schools on January 16, in Charleston, S.C., 89-86 behind 16 points apiece from Brian White and Derrick Henry. Croone paced the Paladins with 22 points, while Devin Sibley and Rafferty added 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Following Thursday's game, Furman wraps up its regular season home schedule and celebrates Legends Weekend and Senior Day when it hosts the Mercer Bears at 4 p.m. on Saturday on ESPN3. NOTE: On Thursday when Furman hosts The Citadel, the Furman Trolley will operate from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. giving students a free ride to and from Timmons Arena. The trolley will pick up and drop off at South Housing, North Village and at the library.
