Paladins Set To Entertain Gardner-Webb On Saturday In Men’s Hoops Action

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman puts its three-game winning streak on the line on Saturday when it welcomes the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs into Timmons Arena for a non-conference men's basketball tilt.  The contest will tip-off at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

Saturday's game can also be heard on the Furman IMG Network at WGOG 101.7FM and FoxSports 1440AM, as well as, on your mobile device through the iHeart Radio app. Fans are encouraged to wear their ugliest holiday sweater with the winner receiving a prize during the game.

Furman claimed its third straight victory  and improved to 3-0 at Timmons Arena this season with a 79-56 triumph over Liberty on Tuesday night. Senior Stephen Croone paced the Paladins with 17 points, while Devin Sibley scored 15 points and Kris Acox added 13 points and nine rebounds.  The Paladins shot a season-best 60% from the field and outscored the Flames 22-5 on points off turnovers in the victory.

Croone leads the Paladins at 15.3 points per game and freshman Matt Rafferty, who dished out six assists and recorded four steals on Tuesday, has contributed 11.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest this season.

Gardner-Webb comes to Timmons Arena at 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the Big South following a 66-64 loss at home to High Point last Saturday. Forward Tyrell Nelson and guard Harold McBride lead the Bulldogs averaging 14.3 and 14.2 points per game, respectively.

Gardner-Webb holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series versus the Paladins after claiming a 74-68 victory in Boiling Springs, N.C., last season.  Furman won the previous meeting, 75-64, in Greenville during the 2013-14 season.

The Paladins conclude their four-game homestand on Wednesday, December 16, when they host Bluefield at 7 p.m.
