Paladins Open Five-Game Road Swing At Appalachian State On Tuesday

Furman vs. App State Game Notes

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team begins a five-game road trip on Tuesday when it travels to Boone, N.C., to face former Southern Conference foe Appalachian State in a 7 p.m. contest at the Holmes Convocation Center.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. Tuesday's game will also air over the Furman IMG Sports Network, headed up by flagship station WGOG 101.7/Walhalla and FoxSports 1440/Greenville.

Furman begins the road trip, which also includes visits to Charlotte, nationally-ranked UConn and two games at the Battle 4 Atlantis Regional in Elon, N.C., sporting a 1-0 record after topping Presbyterian 63-53 at Timmons Arena last Friday night.  Freshman Matt Rafferty paced the Paladins with 17 points and 10 rebounds in his first collegiate outing, while junior Kris Acox added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Tuesday's game marks the 86th meeting between Furman and Appalachian State with the Paladins holding a 46-39 series advantage.  The Paladins downed the Mountaineers 84-65 last season behind 14 points and 10 rebounds from Acox to secure their second straight win over the Mountaineers.

Appalachian State also enters Tuesday's tilt at 1-0 after scoring a 76-68 victory over Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon.  Chris Burgess led the Mountaineers with 18 points.
