Greenville, S.C. – The Furman Paladins go for their sixth straight home victory and look to snap an 11-game skid against Davidson when they host the Wildcats on Saturday at Timmons Arena. Tip-off for the game, which follows the Furman women's basketball team's 3:30 p.m. contest against Western Carolina, is slated for 6:07 p.m. and will be televised live on CSS.
Furman enters the contest at 18-7 overall and 10-4 in the SoCon. The Paladins moved into a tie for second in the SoCon South Division with Wofford by claiming a 54-45 triumph over Georgia Southern on Thursday evening that gave Furman its first regular season sweep of the Eagles since 1997. The victory over the Eagles gave Furman its most wins since posting a 20-9 record during the 1990-91 campaign and improved the Paladins to 10-1 at home this season.
Davidson downed Wofford 67-58 on Wednesday to claim its fifth straight win and move to 13-12 overall and 7-7 inside the league. JP Kuhlman continues to front the Wildcat offense averaging 13 points per game while fellow sophomore Jake Cohen has contributed 12 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Saturday's contest marks the 156th meeting in the all-time series between the schools with Davidson holding a 94-61 advantage. The Wildcats, 79-70 victors over Furman on January 12, at Belk Arena, have won 11 straight and 27 of the last 28 against the Paladins. Furman's lone win during the stretch was a 70-66 decision at Timmons Arena on January 14, 2006.
