Matt Klinker Named SoCon Pitcher-of-the-Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman Paladins senior pitcher Matt Klinker has been named Southern Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week for his performance last week, the league has announced.
Klinker, a 6-foot-5 right-hander, recorded the most impressive start of his career in the Paladins' 4-2 win over the Bulldogs last Friday, throwing a complete game, three-hitter that required only 88 pitches. He retired the final 13 batters he faced, recording all six of his strikeouts from the fifth inning on, and faced only 29 batters in the contest, two above the minimum.
Ih his last four appearances, the West Chester, Ohio, product has gone 2-0 and hurled 29 innings while posting a 2.17 earned run average with 26 strikeouts. He was the starting and winning pitcher in Furman's 11-2 victory over Wofford on May 4, working 7 2/3 innings and allowing only five hits and two runs while recording a season high nine strikeouts.
Eighth-seeded Furman faces ninth seed Wofford Tuesday in SoCon Tournament first round action at Charleston's Joseph P. Riley Park. First pitch is set for noon.
