May 19, 2006

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Jordan Caskey has been named assistant sports information director at Furman, it was announced today by assistant athletics director/media relations Hunter Reid.

Caskey, who had served as a sports information assistant at Furman for the past four years, replaces Teri Brinkman, who accepted a new position with the Greenville County School District in February following 15 years at Furman.

"We're delighted to have Jordan take over the assistant SID role in our office," said Reid in making the announcement. "He's been a valuable member of our staff for the last several years and has had a deep love for Furman and Paladin athletics his entire life. His broad range of experience with many sports will continue to be a tremendous asset to our operation."

Caskey, 27, is a graduate of Greenville's Eastside High School. He attended Anderson College, where he worked as a student assistant SID for four years before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications in 2001. Following graduation, he interned for one year at the College of Charleston, where he served as the primary contact for Cougar soccer, swimming, and tennis programs. He joined the Furman staff in 2002, and over the last four years has served as the primary media contact for soccer, cross country/track & field, softball, and, most recently, men's basketball.

Caskey's strong ties to Furman include his parents, Susan `77 and Gerald Caskey `76, both Furman graduates, a brother Jonathan `03, and grandfather, Eldredge Caskey `37, a former university trustee who served as school business manager and treasurer at the time of the university's move from downtown Greenville to its current location.

Jordan and his wife, Beth, formerly of Wallingford, Connecticut, have a son William, 22 months.
