Furman-Wofford To Play Sunday Doubleheader
May 5, 2007
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Saturday's Furman-Wofford baseball game has been postponed due to rain in the Upstate and has been rescheduled as part of a Sunday doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. at Russell C. King Stadium, Wofford officials have announced.
Sunday's twinbill will include a nine inning contest in game one followed by a rarely scheduled seven inning contest in game two. Jay Jackson (1-3, 4.19 ERA) will take the mound for Furman in game one followed by Mason Smith (2-6, 7.27 ERA) in the nightcap.
Furman (14-32, 9-13 SoCon) claimed an 11-2 victory in Friday's series opener behind the strong pitching of Matt Klinker, who struck out nine over 7 2/3 innings. Jay Jackson hit a two-run home run, and Will Stembridge belted a ninth inning grand slam to highlight the Paladins' offensive attack.
Furman sports an eight game series winning streak against Wofford.
