GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Southern Conference today named Furman's A.J. Davidiuk (Day-vah-DUKE) league TIAA-CREF Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 19.

Davidiuk, a senior shortstop, hit .625 last week, tallying two home runs, four RBIs and seven runs scored in a 3-1 week for Furman. On Monday he was named SoCon Player-of-the-Week.

The Indian Trail, N.C., native recorded a slugging percentage of 1.036 on the week and an on-base percentage of .667. He was almost perfect against Georgia Southern, going 4-for-5 in a 9-7 loss before going 3-for-4 in a come-from-behind 9-7 victory last Saturday in which the shortstop recorded two RBIs and hit one of his two home runs.

Davidiuk, a neuroscience major with a 3.64 GPA, captured the same honor two weeks ago. His strong play has lifted Furman to a 23-11 overall record and 10-2 SoCon first place mark heading into Wednesday's game against Clemson.
