A.J. Davidiuk Named SoCon Player-of-the-Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman shortstop A.J. Davidiuk (Day-vah-DUKE) has been named Southern Conference Player-of-the-Week, it was announced today.

A senior from Indian Trail, N.C., he batted .626 (10-for-17) with seven runs scored, a pair of home runs, four RBI, and 1.036 slugging percentage in four contests, helping the Paladins to a 3-1 record last week. In the Paladins' series against SoCon foe Georgia Southern, he went 8-for-12 (.667), powering Furman to a pair of wins over the Eagles. In Saturday's series finale, he went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in helping the Paladins overcome a 7-1 sixth inning deficit to a 9-7 victory.

Daviduik's player-of-the-week honor is his second this season and the third weekly scroll for a Furman player in 2006. He is batting .400 with seven home runs and 31 RBI on the campaign.

Now 23-11 on the season, Furman tops the SoCon with a 10-2 league record. The Paladins play at Clemson on Wednesday in a 7:15 p.m. game.
