GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman men's cross country team received 66 points to finish second in the league's preseason poll, as voted on by coaches.

The team came in second only to defending champion Appalachian State, who received 9 first-place votes for a total of 81 points. Chattanooga, which received one first-place vote, had 61 points. UNC Greensboro had 59 points for fourth place while Davidson had 53 points to place fifth. Elon and College of Charleston tied for sixth with 34 points. The Citadel, Western Carolina and Wofford round out the men's poll.

The Furman women's cross country team was tabbed to finish fifth in the league, with a total of 61 points. Defending champion Chattanooga was picked to repeat as the number one team in the league, with a total of 8 first-place votes and 97 points. Davidson got three first place votes to tally 90 points. Appalachian State totaled 81 points for third and Elon got 75 points for fourth place. For sixth, College of Charleston received 58 points. Western Carolina was seventh with 41 points while The Citadel and UNC Greensboro tied with 35 points each. Georgia Southern and Wofford round out the bottom of the poll.
