Several members of the Furman track and field teams competed at the Stanford Invitational this weekend amidst some of the nation's top athletes. Over the two-day competition, a meet record 316 athletes posted NCAA Regional Qualifying marks, with 217 of those coming on Saturday. Furman's Chibuzo Aguocha was the top Paladin finisher with a second-place finish in the women's long jump "B" Section with a mark of 5.69m.
Rebecca Mullen also ran for the Lady Paladins, coming in 30th in the 800m run "B" section with a time of 2:16.93. On the men's side, Furman had two "B" Section finishers. David Moseley took third place in the javelin throw "B" section with a mark of 56.15m. Patrick Morgan crossed the finish line in 1:52.72 to finish eighth in the 800m run "B" section.
Furman will return home to host the ninth annual Furman Invitational on Saturday, April 7. The meet is in conjunction with the Blue Shoes Elite Mile, which will feature several top runners including 2004 Olympian Alan Webb. He and several other elite runners will attempt to break the four-minute mark on a South Carolina track for the first time. The day's events begin at 8 a.m., with a high school track meet and conclude with the collegiate meet, which is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
