Assistant Coach Julie Stackhouse is in her fourth season on the Furman staff, following a three-year career with the Lady Paladin cross country and track teams.

An outstanding worker with great talent, Stackhouse was always willing to do whatever it took to help the team. A Southern Conference champion in the 2000 and 2002 outdoor 800m run, Stackhouse competed in 10 events in the outdoor season as a senior, setting school records in the heptathlon, 800m run (2:11.41) and the 4x800m relay (9:28.0). She also ran the 100m high hurdles, the distance medley, the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay. In addition, Stackhouse competed in the high jump, the long jump, the shot put and the javelin.

In the cross country season, Stackhouse competed on the 2000 SoCon championship team with a best time of 19:20.45 at the Southern Conference Championships.

For her career, Stackhouse earned five All-Southern Conference citations, was a three-time academic honor roll member and was the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2002 Furman Invitational Track and Field Meet.

A native of Hayesville, N.C., Stackhouse helped Hayesville High to two state track titles during her career and was the individual state champion in the high jump, 100m hurdles, 400m and 800m. She was the North Carolina Female Track MVP and Female Athlete of the Year as a senior and completed her career as the owner of five state records and 10 school records, in addition to 16 state titles.

A 2001 Furman graduate with a degree in health and exercise science, Stackhouse earned a master's degree in HES in December of 2002. She has acheived USAT&F level I and II certification in the multi-events.
