Furman Men Compete at Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta, GA - Four Furman men's track and field athletes competed this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational held at the George C. Griffin Track. Senior Tyler Johnson won the men's 3000 meter steeplechase event with a regional qualifying time of 9:06.61.

Johnson, a senior from Knoxville, Tennessee, had already qualified for the NCAA East Regional by virtue of his first place finish in the steeplechase at the Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held on April 29-30 in Statesboro, GA.

Sam Robinson placed seventh in the men's 5000 meter run with a time of 15:13.29. Patrick Morgan placed 22nd in the 800 meter run (1:52.69) and Andrew Mullen finished 38th in the 1500 meter run (3:58.27).

Johnson, along with David Moseley (javelin) and McKenzie Sharpe (800 meter), will compete in the NCAA East Regional meet on May 26-27 in Greensboro, NC.
