Furman Completes Southern Conference Track and Field Championships

Statesboro, GA - The Furman men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the 2006 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday afternoon. McKenzie Sharpe took medalist honors in the women's 800 meter run, and set a new Furman standard with a time of 2:11.24.
The Paladins placed seventh out of 11 teams with 40 team points. The Lady Paladins finished fifth out of seven teams with 58 total points.
Rebecca Mullen also earned points for Furman in the women's 800 meter run as she placed fourth with a time of 2:12.59. Kristen Edgar placed fifth in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a final time of 1:04.92.
The Furman men's team earned points from Will Forrest, who placed eighth in the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 11.31. Patrick Morgan finished second in the men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.37, while Andrew Mullen earned fifth place in the men's 1500 meter run with a final mark of 4:00.71.
Tyler Johnson finished second (14:45.55) and Sam Robinson finished seventh (15:09.40) in the men's 5000 meter run.
In Saturday's competition, Johnson (3000m steeplechase) and David Moseley (javelin) each earned Southern Conference event titles.
