Track and Field Completes Day One at Clemson Relays

Clemson, SC - The Furman men's and women's outdoor track and field teams completed Day One at the Clemson Relays at the Rock Norman Outdoor Track Complex on Friday afternoon. Furman placed seven competitors in the top five finishers of their events, including Page Bridges' second-place finish in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase and Chibuzo Aguocha's new Furman record in the women's long jump.

Furman started off the meet with Bridges and Katie Poole finishing in second and third place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with times of 11:32.80 and 11:36.76, respectively. Kelsey Jones earned a third-place finish in the women's 10,000 meter run with a time of 42:24.88.

Aguocha finished fourth in the women's long jump preliminaries with a leap of 17-11.75 feet, which set a new Furman all-time record. The sophomore from Houston, Texas broke her own record in the finals as she finished fourth with a final jump of 18-3.25 feet.

On the men's side, Furman placed three of the top eight runners in the 3000 meter steeplechase, as Eric Albrecht finished fourth (9:59.71), Tyler Johnson finished fifth (10:01.83) and FJ Goodwin finished eighth (10:13.95).

David Moseley finished in fifth place after the preliminaries in the men's javelin with a throw of 179-02 feet. Moseley moved into third place in the finals with a final toss of 190-03 feet.

The Paladins return to action on Saturday for Day Two of the Clemson Relays.
