Furman Men, Women Place Fifth at Clemson Cross Country Invitational

Clemson, S.C. - The Furman men's and women's cross country teams placed fifth at the season opening Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., Saturday.
Sam Robinson paced the Paladins with a time of 25:11 in the 8K event. He was followed by teammates Eric Albrecht (26:01) and Tyler Johnson (26:18). Johnson, a senior, placed second at last season's Southern Conference Championships to earn all-league honors.
Sophomore Page Bridges led the Lady Paladins in the women's 5K race with a time of 19:15. Senior Katie Poole (19:20) and sophomore Mo Campbell (19:21) rounded out the Lady Paladins' top three performances in the season opener.
Clemson claimed the the team title in the 11-team men's 8K. Charlotte, Georgia, Western Carolina and Furman completed the top five. The Georgia Bulldogs won the 5K followed by Charlotte, Clemson, South Carolina and Furman.
The Paladins and Lady Paladins travel to Conway, S.C., to participate in the Coastal Carolina Invitational next Saturday morning.
