Gear Leads All Collegiate Runners In 800m at Camel City Races

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Sophomore Krissy Gear was the top collegiate finisher in the 800m to lead the Paladin indoor track and field team Friday in the opening day of the Camel City Elite Races this Friday and Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Gear posted a time of 2:11.42, taking third place overall and leading all college runners at the elite meet. 

On the men's side, freshman Cameron Ponder placed second among collegiate competitors and fifth overall with a time of 4:09.70 in the mile.

The meet will conclude on Saturday.  Juniors Savannah Carnahan and Emma Grace Hurley will race in the women's 3,000m presented by Visit Winston-Salem at 2:05 p.m., and seniors Frank Lara and Aaron Templeton will compete in the men's 3,000m presented by Salem Sports at 2:20 p.m.  The Paladins will conclude the day when senior Ryan Adams runs in the men's mile presented by Mondo at 3:15 p.m.
