GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Select members of the Furman track and field teams will compete at the seventh annual Camel City Elite Races this Friday and Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
"We are very excited about the 2019 Camel City meet," said Furman head coach Robert Gary. "We have supported this meet with Furman Elite and our collegiate athletes since the first year the meet was held at this venue. As usual, we have a number of entries and are excited about pursuing personal bests, NCAA, and USATF qualifying marks.
"The Elites, having just broken four minutes in the mile in their openers, will have Jamaine Coleman racing the 3,000m and Troy Reeder and Craig Nowak racing the mile," continued Gary. "Cameron Ponder, Jake Ogden, and Ryan Adams will join the Elites in the mile, while Frank Lara and Aaron Templeton will be in the 3,000m. On the women's side, Savannah Carnahan and Emma Grace Hurley will race the 3,000m, and Krissy Gear will compete in the 800m. Camel City's combination of elite and high-level college participants makes it one of the best meets in the country, and we are excited to see where we stand before the whole team returns to action next weekend at Iowa State, Washington, and Samford."
Friday's events begin with Ogden and Ponder in the mile at 1:30 p.m., followed by Gear in the women's 800m at 2:10 p.m. On Saturday, Carnahan and Hurley will race in the women's 3000m presented by Visit Winston-Salem at 2:05 p.m., and Lara and Templeton will compete in the men's 3,000m presented by Salem Sports at 2:20 p.m. The Paladins will conclude the day when Adams runs in the men's mile presented by Mondo at 3:15 p.m.
