Box Score Mobile, Ala. – Saleyna Daniel lined a walk-off home run to right-center field in the bottom of the 12
th inning to lift Mississippi State to a 6-5 victory over Furman on Saturday evening at the South Alabama Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
After Furman's
Emme Buzhardt retired the first batter of the frame, Daniel homered on the first pitch from the righthander to improve the Bulldogs to 10-4 on the season and drop the Paladins to 4-8.
Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Daniel singled to start a two-out rally before Aquana Brownlee tripled two batters later to drive in two runs and put Mississippi State in front 5-3. Furman answered in the top of the seventh. An error and bunt single set the table for

Caitlin Goldwait with a one-out single. After a walk loaded the bases,
Hana Hashioka was hit by a pitch to force in the tying run.
Buzhardt stranded the bases loaded in the ninth, left a runner on third base in the 10th, and wiggled out of another jam in the 11
th before Daniel delivered the game-winning hit in the 12
th inning. The Paladin reliever suffered the loss after allowing three runs on six hits over 6.2 innings of work out of the bullpen.
Matalasi Faapito gave up just an earned run on three hits in seven innings of relief to earn the win for Mississippi State. Brownlee went 3-for-6 with a double, triple and three RBIs to pace the Bulldogs offense.
Lykins finished 3-for-5 with three runs for the Paladins, while
Kiley Perry and Hashioka each drove in two runs.
